Der italienische Künstler Biancoshock hat in den Bergen von Corsica ein kaputtes Google Car installiert, dass Wanderern den Weg mittels Offline Karte zeigt
Machen wir uns nichts vor, ohne Google Maps und vergleichbare Kartendienste geht nichts mehr – zumindest navigieren wir uns nicht mehr ohne durch die Gegend. Wehe, wenn die Daten von Google Street View oder Maps dann mal nicht auf dem aktuellsten Stand sind, was bei sich rasant ändernden Städten garnicht so einfach ist. Der Wunsch nach Updates der urbanen Umgebung in Echtzeit ist groß. Anders ist es auf dem Land und speziell in den Bergen. Hier ändert sich die Umgebung und Straßenführung nicht so schnell. Und auch Google kommt nicht so oft vorbei.
Auf der französische Insel Corsica, wo in den Bergen das erste und letzte Google Car 2009 durch die Landschaft gerollt ist, hat der italienische Künstler Biancoshock ein kaputtes Google Car in die Berglandschaft gestellt. Versehen mit einer Offline Map, die auf die Motorhaube gemalt ist, weist es Wanderern und Besuchern den Weg durch die Region. Ganz ohne Smartphone. Die Land Street Art Installation ist Teil des Popularte Festival – Corsica.
Biancoshock schreibt über seine Installation: „Time flows and each place requires a different speed. In the cities everything must be updated in real time, in the small villages nothing changes so quickly. Google Cars are the examples of the need to be always updated, informed and reachable. They continuously map the cities, while rarely passing through small towns. Biancoshock, during a festival in the mountains of Corsica, noted on Google Maps that the Google Car passed once in that village in 2009 and then never again. On the hood of the abandoned Google Car there is a local map that helps visitors orientate themselves in the mountains (even if the sculpture has been placed out of the maps…)“
