Am 14. Dezember 2013 wird erstmalig die Filmdokumentation ‚Dissolving Europe‘ von Vermibus in der Platoon Kunsthalle in Berlin gezeigt.
„OPEN WALLS Gallery cordially invites you to Platoon Kunsthalle on December 14, 2013 at 19:00 for the première of Vermibus’ video Dissolving Europe.
Dissolving Europe is the new body of work that stormed Europe earlier this year by artist, Vermibus. Using the most common means of travel of young students, Vermibus set out with a dubious inter-rail ticket along with his videographer, Xar Lee and photographer, Thomas von Wittich, a set of 90 homemade keys and his pallet of solvents to physically and temporally highjack advertisements of the western world in the name of fine art.
Each site is carefully deliberated with its environment, from Rolex boutiques, to archaic museums. The system is simple in movement; unlock and roll to create the first intervention NO-AD then appears; a huge blank gleaming white breath of fresh air in the urban environment materializes. The advert then undertakes the process of counter action painting using a series of solvents and brushes, it is then replaced in another site, another city, another country.
The show also features an exclusive black and white series of photos by photographer, Thomas von Wittich, that highlight the Dissolving Europe project.“
